In response to the current situation with regards to the Covid-19 virus, Sunderland City Council regretfully announces the postponement of the inaugural Lamplight Festival until 2021. The first Lamplight festival will now take place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 August 2021 with the same line-up.
All existing ticket purchases are now valid for the new 2021 dates, customers are however also eligible for a refund. All customers will be emailed directly by their relevant ticket provider to advise on the transfer of tickets and be given advice on how to process a refund if they wish to do so.

Where can I buy tickets?
Can I buy a ticket on the day?
We advise purchasing tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Any remaining tickets will be sold from the box office located at Mowbray Park.
Can children attend the Lamplight festival?
Children of all ages can attend. Children aged 14 years and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Children aged five years and under are free. Children aged five and over require a ticket. If you are bringing a small child with you, we recommend that the child wears ear defenders.
The tickets are one set price for both adults and children.
Are there any concessions available?
Carers can gain free access when accompanying the person, they care for and have purchased one standard access tickets. They must show their carers badge on entry.
What time are the performances?
Gates open at 3pm both days and the Festival finishes at 9.30pm. Stage times are confirmed nearer the time please visit lamplightfestival.co.uk
Can I bring my own food and drink?
Food and drink concessions are available on site, and therefore food and drink is not permitted on site. Water bottles will be permitted but please note glass is NOT permitted.
There will be free water points for you to refill your water bottles.
What items are not permitted at the venue?
The following items are NOT permitted on site:
- Dogs except guide dogs
Please note that Mowbray Park is also a no smoking area which includes the use of electronic cigarettes.
Bag searches will also take place prior to entry into Mowbray Park, alcohol, glass and any sharp objects are not allowed and will be confiscated on entry.
Do we get a seat with our ticket?
No, this is a standing event. We have an accessible viewing area for those with disabilities and additional needs. Spaces are limited and are on a first come basis. However, we encourage people to bring chairs and picnic rugs into the Park and there will be areas that will be designated. The concerts are standing only and therefore please be mindful that view will be restricted in certain areas.
Is the site accessible?
Mowbray Park is accessible and has hardstanding walkways throughout the area. The standing areas are grassed but there will be ramp access to these areas.
There will be accessible toilets on site.
Is there baby changing available?
Yes, all accessible toilets have a baby change facility within them.
How do I get there?
To help us reduce our carbon footprint please use public transport or car-share where possible to get to Lamplight Festival.
Sunderland train station is a 5-minute walk from Mowbray Park and has direct train links from major train stations such as London Kings Cross, York and Edinburgh Waverley.

There are a variety of city centre car parks which are in walking distance to Mowbray Park.

There is limited Blue Badge Parking spaces available on Burdon Road, but please note that these will be on a first come basis.
Can I leave the festival and return later?
There is no re-admittance once you have entered the Event. In the case of an emergency please speak to an event steward.
Can I take photos?
If your photographs are for personal use and memories, then snap away. However, if it is for media and press publications you will need to speak to the events team regarding a media accreditation. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Is Lamplight working towards being a sustainable Festival?
Yes! We are keen to reduce use of single use plastics and to reduce the carbon footprint of the event and you can help!
- By car sharing or using public transport this will help to reduce the amount of car exhaust fumes used in travelling to the event.
- We will have recycle points around the site.
- There will be water points available on site so please bring your reusable water bottles to refill on site. This will help us to reduce single use plastics at the event.
- Lamplight will be a plastic straw free event and the use of single use sauce sachets will also be banned. We are working closely with catering providers to ensure the use of biodegradable cutlery and containers at the event.
- We are working closely with all contractors to understand their sustainability procedures and how they can aid us in working towards a sustainable Festival.
